“Good Morning” “Night Night” pillow

in naptime crafting

A few year’s ago I saw something similar to this in Land of Nod & have been meaning to make it ever since…a good rainstorm meant extra long naptime so I today I finally was able to finish.

The idea is when you make the bed in the morning you leave it “Good Morning” out & then when you tuck your little one in at night you flip it to the “Night Night” side. Cute, right? It might even be a fun part to add to your toddler’s making the bed & going to bed routine.

I used a store bought pillowcase from Target, although you could certainly make your own if that’s your thing, & appliqued the letters on with Heat N Bond & then stitched in place using my sewing machine. Some are done with coordinating thread, others with contrasting. Some with a straight stitch & some with a zig-zag. It’s meant to look homemade & a little quirky. Finally I ironed on strips of yellow ribbon to tie into three pretty side bows. I used Heat N Bond hem tape because I didn’t want stitch marks, I don’t know if mine is just old or what but they don’t seem that securely glued. I’m probably going to have to stitch them down eventually. So there it is, something fun & homemade for my little ones. I’m digging it.

I do hope you know that those christmas lights near your child’s bed will kill her and it will be all your fault.

(yeah, I couldn’t even type it with a straight face. but we get these kinds of comments all the time and I couldn’t help but see what it was like to post one. not as fun as I expected, actually.)

cute pillow!

Natasha,
I just started following your blog. You are absolutely talented. I wish I could sew since I was little, but I just never got a chance to learn. Anyway, thanks for sharing your creativities!

so cute! Does it take forever to do stitch that many letters? I’ve done 4, and that’s enough for me!

YES! I don’t know why I didn’t think that part through. AND I chose to switch thread colors like four times, not my best move. Unless you have time on your hands…then go on with your bad self.

After reading the first comment I had to go back and look at the photos. I must be a complete airhead because I did not even notice the Christmas lights the first time! Anyways, Natasha that pillow case idea is so cute! You definitely have more time and patience than me to change the thread that many times!

This is too cute! I have the worst luck with stitching around letters, if I made one of these it would look like my 3 yr old did it!

How and where do you get letters like that? I always want to do projects with letters but am clueless on how you do that without a fancy machine like a cricut.

I just hand wrote them on the paper side of the heat n bond…I used a ruler to draw two lines to keep the letters in between so they’d all be about the same size. That was it! If you don’t trust your own writing you could print out the letter the size you want and then lay the heat n bond on top and trace them.
