Sharpie Snow Leopard Fabric into an Ottoman

I’m so excited I finally had some kid-free time this weekend to finish up this project! The basic idea, you use a few sharpies & spend a bit of therapeutic time coloring & you can incorporate some fabulous designer looking snow leopard fabric anywhere in your home. LOVE this!

I used white canvas fabric from Ikea & a slate grey sharpie first for the spots followed with a black one for the accent marks on top. I love how my inspiration leopard print (see the pillow in the pics above) has such an easy feel to it & looks hand-drawn. Comes in handy for knocking off. I’m guessing I should probably protect the ottoman somehow, Scotch Guard perhaps? I’ll just have to test it first to make sure it doesn’t make the Sharpie bleed. This would be such a fun idea for throw pillows, dining chair pads or even curtain panels. Hm, it’d be a pretty amazing lumbar pillow across my bed come to think of it…

As soon as my rug comes in & I get some black & white photos up on the wall I’ll give you the complete home office before/after makeover…hopefully sometime next week if my body will get itself in gear.

*UPDATE* You can see the entire home office makeover here! Man, whenever I do a complete room overhaul it makes me wonder why the heck I waited so long to make that space beautiful?

Yikes! That is quite a litany of maladies (super band name, don’t you think?)! I hope your cyst(s) resolve in a thoroughly unpainful way. I am getting over two and it was a nightmare. I was misdiagnosed with appendicitis because of them. I hope you are feeling better soon! Thyroid medication is nothing short of a miracle.

    Cute ottoman!

So sorry to hear about your ‘health issues’ (I hate using sickness or problems…just sounds wrong). As a sufferer of Polycystic Ovaries I feel your pain, literally twice. Thankfully you’ve caught it and medicate! Hope you get to feeling better soon!

    LOVE the ottoman BTW!

  3. Sheesh! When it rains, it pours I guess. When you said not waiting until your vagina falls off, I just about peed myself! Thank you for making me laugh!! I’m sure once you get your thyroid hormone levels evened out you will feel like SuperCrafter Woman!
That ottoman looks awesome! It’s amazing what you can accomplish with a Sharpie!

LOVE the leopard print! It looks fabulous! Sorry about you feeling crappy lately! I’ve also got hypothyroidism- it’s definitely manageable. My advice would be to make sure you take your rx everyday and make sure to tell your doctor when/if you start feeling any differently. :) I love your blog- you inspired me to start mine!

Love that fabric! Glad you got that stuff checked, but I’m thinking if my vagina fell off I’d probably breathe a sigh of relief. I could go on all day the reasons why but TMI.

I just had to respond about your IUD trouble. I got one after I had my first daughter and it was a torturous experience. I’m sure it works great for some women but I know 3 or 4 other ladies who have had an IUD and they have all had completely different but equally awful experiences as mine.

ps how long did it take to do the leopard print?

I am new to your blog and was going to leave a comment after your boobie blog but didn’t. I feel like I have to now. I too have hypothyroidism…Hachimoto’s Syndrome to be exact (it’s hypothyroidism that hereditary…my mother, my Aunt and sister have it too.) i was diagnosis 15 years and it’s no big thing…take your Synthroid everyday and get blood work regularly. I didn’t know until my sister was diagnosed and told me it’s hereditary to get checked. I went to my doctor sure enough I had it.

I also feel the same about my boobies. After breast-feeding 4 children they are not what they once were. I thought about implants and even went for a consultation but I couldn’t do it. What would I tell my daughters? What kind of an example would I be setting for them? Maybe when my youngest daughter is older and I can talk it through with her but for now they are what they are!

Love your blog and your leopard print looks like something I will try.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  8. Better safe than sorry! I’m really glad you sought treatment right away and now are being treated. Those beautiful girls need their momma for a long long time. I’m 34 and still need mine. lol.

I’m insanely jealous at your talent. Another great project!

    Have a great day.

Beautiful! I never would have thought to recreate the print with a sharpie, but really that’s genius! Don’t you love it when your vision works out? I am often coming up with ideas that I think could be awesome, or a complete mess. I’m sure your husband is glad you got all fixed up before your vagina tell off. I hope you feel better soon! :)

  10. I was always afraid of my IUD not being in the right place and I’d never know it. I went back to BC with the hopes that it’d help my post baby skin on my face.

Fab project with a sharpie! Genius!

Glad you got to the doctor. I must say I think I may be having some issues as well. WOn’t go into details. TMI. I have Hoshimoto’s Thyroiditis and basically the doctor has done a needle biposy to give me the diagnois about 10 years ago and never did anything about it. Everytime my bloodwork comes back okay so, they won’t put me on anything. If you stick a needle in my neck and draw fluid, why does it have to show up in my blood. My mother had Grave’s disease and my grandmother had it as well. Oh, well.

The ottoman turned out adorable. (not as adorable as the girls in the kitchen) lol

Hope you are feeling more yourself soon.

I have had chronic ovarian cysts for two years now. They are easily controlled with the pill. Just be careful for infection. The follow up is going to suck :( at least if you get them more than once. I wish you luck :)

  13. Jenn

UGH! My doctors just told me about my 2 ovarian cysts today too! GROSS! One had ruptured and they discovered another one while trying to see if there were still pieces from the first one? Yuck, anyway, hope you feel better soon! Let’s hope these next ones don’t “pop”.

      • Lisa

I’ve had a couple of ruptures. Basically all they can do is send you home with pain meds and tell you to take it easy. At least that’s what they’ve done for mine. And trust me…you’d know if it ‘popped’!

        • Yup! It seriously was the worst pain of my life, and not having a baby yet I had no idea what “worst” meant but seriously; so awful. Mine didn’t give me any meds unfortunately because I didn’t go in after my first one had “popped” and the pain lasted for about 2-3 days and when the pain came back, and my period was late and there wasn’t a positive pregnancy test, I decided to go see what was up and they told me. They usually give you an ultra sound the first time they notice and then one about 2 months later to see if it’s gone through your system via menstrual cycle. Just updated myself on your blog! Hope you feel better soon!

I have to say props to you. Ovarian cysts hurt so bad. I’ve had probably 6 or so in the last few years. I had one that burst and I was hemorrhaging blood. It then led to a kidney and bladder infection. For me it is a certain type of birth control. Anyway so props to you for being so strong. You are not a wimp.

I love the ottoman. The leopard print looks amazing and so real as a whole. Love it.

I had an iud for the past 3 years with no major problems except that no matter how much I worked out I could not loose weight and twice in the past year, both at 3am (of course) I had an ovarian cyst that ruptured( worse pain in my life and I have 2 kids), and my period every month was so heavy and my cramps were so bad I felt like I was going to die every month. . My doctor finally recommended that I get on the pill. I have been on it for about a month now and out of no where dropped about 5 lbs and my last period was so light and easy. I don’t know why I let myself suffer for those 3 years. I’m glad that you figured out what was wrong. Hope you get some relief.
